Most Surprising 2014 World Cup was for Spain

The 2014 World Cup brought forth a number of surprising events as Spain failed on making it past the group stages and another rather shocking outcome which occurred was Italy also failing to make it into the knockout rounds.

During that time, CesarePrandelli was the man in charge of the Italian national football team but following that disappointing campaign, he decided to step down and resign from his managerial position and Antonio Conte was later appointed as the new manager.

Antonio Conte is giving Italy a breath of life as he has made a number of changes in the team that appear to be working out as the Italian squad remains undefeated in their 2016 Euro’s journey and are located at the top of their group.

The former coach of Juventus believes that Italian football is falling behind in comparison to other leagues around Europe and his squad has been affected as well but he is eager to guide and push the team out of their current situation.

“I took on a job with people that enthusiastically wanted me and with the Italy fans. This job gives me such a responsibility that although the speculation is part of football, I rule out the eventuality of resigning .It is a very critical period, we have reached the bottom. But we can dig ourselves out of the situation’’ Antonio Conte told the media as he shut down rumors of him wanting to resign from coaching Italy and he also stated that he wants to continue in charge of the Italian squad.

Antonio Conte managed to guide Juventus to 3 consecutive Serie A titles which is a very impressive feat to accomplish and he is hoping to lift major pieces of silverware with Italy as well.
