Luiz FInally Over World Cup

Brazil defender David Luiz has claimed that he is finally over the disappointment of the World Cup 2014. The 27-year-old recently completed a £ 50 million transfer to Paris St Germain from Chelsea. This has made him the world’s most expensive defender, but there have been a few who reckon that Chelsea have got the best deal by a long distance. The views were backed up by a very poor performance by Luiz at the World Cup 2014. Even though the defender was one of the best players in the team up until the semifinals, conceding 10 goals in two matches meant that he was at the end of criticism.

Speaking about the woeful 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Germany in the semifinals and the 3-0 defeat against Netherlands in the third-place play-off, Luiz says that he is finally behind in that disappointment and is now ready to focus on his future. He has also claimed that Chelsea is a part of the history now and he will be working hard towards making PSG successful. The French giants have been spending huge amounts of transfer money on star names with Luiz being the latest to join them. They won the league title last season, but the ultimate goal of Champions League success remains some distance away.

“I’ve had time to digest the end of our World Cup and now I’m ready to do everything to help PSG. If the World Cup had finished at the quarter-final stage then you wouldn’t be asking questions about my ability. But I feel privileged. I’m now part of a fantastic team in which everyone has something to teach me. It’s wonderful to be part of this project. I am very happy to have joined a big club and I’m just eager to start playing,” said Luiz.
